Positive Culture for Learning

Royal Oak Intermediate is a PB4L (Positive Behaviour for Learning) school, where positive behaviour and learning are a way of life. We achieve this by explicitly teaching students what is expected of them in all the different settings at school. Our school values RERE – respect, excellence, resilience and empathy are at the centre of everything we do. 

We do this by:

• Teaching the values and the appropriate behaviour as part of the curriculum
• A consistent approach to dealing with student behaviour
• Positive incentives are used when students demonstrate the school values such as RERE cards, Merit Awards, Badges, Principal’s Honours Roll.
• Fostering ‘student agency’ by encouraging students to take ownership and make decisions around the school
