School’s return

Following the announcement of a move to Level 2, we look forward to welcoming back all students to school from Monday 18th May. Distance learning is continuing until Friday 15th May, but please understand that after this time your child’s classroom teacher will not be continuing distance learning, as they will be at school, fulfilling their normal classroom teaching role.

As we have done so throughout the Pandemic, we will continue to follow the advice of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health. Their advice is as follows:

“Physical distancing is a good precaution to prevent the spread of disease. We do however know it is challenging in schools, so good hygiene practices and regular cleaning are even more important here. This includes staff coughing into their elbows, hand washing and drying and regular cleaning of commonly touched surfaces.

Under Alert Level 2, we advise any students and staff to stay at home if they are sick, and we will send anyone home immediately if they show any symptoms.”

Please also provide your child with a full water bottle for the day, to reduce the use of shared water fountains as much as possible.

School and public buses will be running at their normal times with the added precautions of contactless payment through the Hop Card, rear door entry and exit to provide distancing for drivers, and the request for passengers to physically distance as much as possible.

We are really looking forward to having all children back at Royal Oak Intermediate. Please support and encourage your children to come to school and please communicate with your child’s classroom teacher as necessary.
