Welcome to Royal Oak Intermediate

Culture and Expressive Arts

The multicultural nature of our school is a real strength. The different cultures allow us to access the different  knowledge and skills our students bring to the school. We encourage the students to share their knowledge with all students in a variety of formats including dance and language.

Our Kapahaka group has led the school on several occasions as we welcomed the new Year 7 students to our school, a group from the ship of world youth and performed at the Onehunga Festival earlier the year where nearly 100 of our students  performed

Our Expressive Arts programme provides all students to explore a wide variety of different opportunities. Over two terms, every Wednesday afternoon students are engaged in a variety of different activities. These include Kapahaka, Indian Dance Group (modern and contemporary) Samoan Group, Cook Island Group, Tongan Group, Health and Fitness, Latin Dance, Animal Husbandry and much more.

Expressive arts culminates in a cultural performance, or when a performance is not appropriate a public display. For example, electronics had a display on the night of the cultural show.
