Welcome to Royal Oak Intermediate

Sport

Sport plays an important role in our school. We see sport as a learning opportunity for all students. We are involved in over 12 Central Zone sporting activities including the traditional codes of boys and girls rugby, netball and hockey. We also have teams in Kilikiti, cricket, badminton, orienteering and table tennis as well as many other sports.

Students are encouraged to play a wide variety of lunchtime and Saturday sports. While the focus is on participation progressing skills and high achievement are encouraged at all levels.

Other Activities

Intermediate School is a time of change for the emerging adolescent. We seek to offer programmes that meet a variety of academic, cultural and social needs.

Every two years we camp out at Chosen Valley for 4 days. The students have an amazing time where they explore their identity through activities that challenge their skills and knowledge about themselves in the world. Other programmes are also offered to students depending on need.

For example, we run a ‘seasons' programme for students experiencing loss or grief, the KIPS (Kids with Incredible Potential) programme seeks to develop leaders in reluctant leaders, while the school council offers students a voice in the programmes offered by the school.
